Aromatic flower buds of a
tree in the myrtle family with an intense sweet-bitter flavor. Powerful, so just a little bit will do. Cloves are used in such a variety of recipes from spice mixtures, baked goods, pumpkin pies, and ketchup to mulled wine and hot spiced cider.
An ingredient in spice blends such as Mexican Chili Powder, Lebanese Baharat, Indian Garam Masalas, and Ethiopian Berbere.
